Hilary Gunn - French Horn
Hi there!
I am a member of the French Horn section and have played with TSO for a number of years now. I love to lurk at the back of the orchestra along with my fellow brass buddies, and enjoy playing a whole range of music as long as it doesnt involeve counting too many rests!
I started playing music when I was at primary school, being lucky to be of an age where school music tuition and instrument loan was plentiful and free of charge. My parents dreaded what I was going to bring home next- at one point I had a violin, viola, clarinet and horn! I actually only ended up playing a horn as the teacher had run out of trumpets, but I dont regret it- despite the horn being considerably less cool when out jamming in the local pub!
My 'real' job is at Plymouth University, where I am a lecturer and researcher in physiotherapy. When not at work or playing music, my partner Andrew and I spend time running, cylcing, tending our allotment and running around after our 3 year old collie dog Spot- there is never a dull (or quiet) moment in our house!
