Dear Torbay Symphony Orchestra, An enormous thank you for taking the time to visit us at Hayes School in Paignton. Your visit really was a pivotal moment for us after the restrictions put in place during the pandemic. It was the first time in a long time that we had welcomed a large group of visitors, and very lovely visitors you were too! Both staff and children were delighted to have a mini orchestra in the hall to provide a live music experience.
For many children, and staff (!), it was their first experience of an orchestra, something I often forget as a regular orchestral player!
The feedback we have had from pupils and staff has been overwhelmingly positive. I was fortunate to be on gate duty as the children left school after the concert and heard so many children telling their parents about your visit. We posted a picture on our school Facebook page and received some lovely comments, 'Jackson absolutely loved this! He told me all about the instruments and how they were played. What a lovely experience for the
children. ' Another parent responded, 'Elias loved it too. How wonderful for them all.'
We have now sent your publicity to all of our parents and hope
that it sparks some interest in playing for some children. My own musical journey began at primary school, and for this I will be forever grateful. As you all know, there's nothing like playing in an orchestra - it's the highlight of my week and is great for well being.
Please be assured of the positive impact that you had for all of our children and staff. We would be delighted to welcome you in future years, should be generous enough to repeat your visit.
Many thanks, Emma Bamber
