Kate Miler
Piano Teacher

I have enjoyed many admirable TSO concerts over the years, especially those involving excellent concerto performances by the wide range of professional soloists the TSO has engaged. In none of these performances has the orchestra failed the amateur/professional challenge .

Three of my own former piano pupils, after graduating from Music College and embarking on their professional careers have performed with the orchestra. In 2004 Sarah Nicolls played both the Schoenberg and 2nd Beethoven, and in 2022 Francesca Orlando played Mozart K467 and Henry Lewis played Beethoven 5 -“The Emperor”.

All three loved the experience, and found it very valuable.  The high standard and the remarkable friendliness of the orchestra, and Richard’s command of the score and empathy with the soloists enabled them to  play with the confidence and expertise demanded of today’s young professionals.
